Health Benefits of Fruit
Fruit
has been recognized as a good source of vitamins and minerals, and for
their role in preventing vitamin C and vitamin A deficiencies. People
who eat fruit as part of an overall healthy diet generally have a
reduced risk of chronic diseases. USDA's MyPlate encourages making half

Vegetarian Foods: Powerful for Health
World-renowned figures as diverse as philosophers Plato and Nietzsche, political leaders Benjamin Franklin and Gandhi, and pop icons Paul McCartney and Bob Marley have all advocated a vegetarian diet. Science is also on the side of vegetarianism. Multitudes of studies have demonstrated the remarkable health benefits of a vegetarian diet.
“Vegetarian” is defined as avoiding all
animal flesh, including fish and poultry. Vegetarians who avoid
flesh, but do eat animal products such as cheese, milk, and
eggs, are ovo-lacto-vegetarians (ovo = egg; lacto =
milk, cheese, etc.). The ranks of those who abstain from
all animal products are rapidly growing; these people
are referred to as pure vegetarians or vegans.
Scientific research shows that health benefits increase as the amount
of food from animal sources in the diet decreases, so
vegan diets are the healthiest overall.
Preventing Cancer
Vegetarian diets—naturally low in saturated
fat, high in fiber, and replete with cancer-protective
phytochemicals—help to prevent cancer. Large studies in
England and Germany have shown that vegetarians are
about 40 percent less likely to develop cancer compared
to meat-eaters.1-3 In the United States, studies of
Seventh-Day Adventists have shown significant reductions

7 Foods ! Never eat at night no matter how hangry you are
Eating right before bed is a recipe for gaining weight and sleeping poorly, but it can also seriously damage the tissue in your throat and esophagus. No doubt you’re familiar with acid reflux—which occurs when digestive juices back up into the chest or throat and cause a burning sensation—but there’s also something called “silent reflux,” which is different from common heartburn. It has the same causes but without the usual symptoms. Instead of indigestion, sufferers get sore throats, chronic coughs, and difficulty swallowing. Nearly 50 percent of Americans have silent reflux and don’t know it, says aryngologist Jamie Koufman, M.D., who has been studying and treating the condition for about 30 years.
“The single greatest risk factor is, by far, the time that people eat dinner,” says Koufman. She recommends having supper no later than three hours before bed. But even if you manage to do that, be aware that late-night snacking can have the same ruinous effect. If you are going to hit the fridge or pantry before you hit the sack, here are eight things you should never, ever grab.
Alcohol
It relaxes the valves that connect the stomach and esophagus. When this happens, your body is unable to keep food where it belongs. “If you have alcohol just before bed, you’re pretty much asking to have reflux,” says Koufman.
Soda
It doesn't get much more acidic than soda. In fact, soda is actually more acidic than anything found in nature, says Koufman. The acid damages those

A number of common chemicals are potent endocrine disruptors, meaning, they disrupt your hormone function. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are similar in structure to your natural sex hormones, such as estrogen.
These chemicals can potentially interfere with normal physiology, even in extremely small amounts. Your endocrine glands regulate vital physiological processes such as metabolism, reproduction, growth, and development.
A hormone’s job is to help regulate your cell’s function, sending signals that instruct them to perform certain tasks, but EDCs interfere with proper hormone signaling.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals, such as bisphenol-A (BPA), can mimic your natural hormones, tricking your body into increasing or decreasing hormone production or blocking hormone signals by binding to cell receptors. Therefore, compounds that

Healthy eating for everyone with simple tips
Healthy eating is not about strict dietary
limitations, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the
foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy,
and stabilizing your mood. If you feel overwhelmed by all the
conflicting nutrition and diet advice out there, you’re not alone. It
seems that for every expert who tells you a certain food is good for
you, you’ll find another saying exactly the opposite. But by using these
simple tips, you can cut through the confusion and learn how to create a
tasty, varied, and healthy diet.
Exercise. Find something active that you like to do and add it to your day, just like you would add healthy greens, blueberries, or salmon. The benefits of lifelong exercise are abundant and regular exercise may even motivate you to make healthy food choices a habit.
People often think of healthy eating as an
all or nothing proposition, but a key foundation for any healthy diet is
moderation. But what is moderation? In essence, it means eating only as
much food as your body needs. You should feel satisfied at the end of a
meal, but not stuffed
Healthy eating tip 1: Set yourself up for success
To set yourself up for success, think about planning a healthy diet as a number of small, manageable steps rather than one big drastic change. If you approach the changes gradually and with commitment, you will have a healthy diet sooner than you think.- Simplify. Instead of being overly concerned with counting calories or measuring portion sizes, think of your diet in terms of color, variety, and freshness. This way it should be easier to make healthy choices. Focus on finding foods you love and easy recipes that incorporate a few fresh ingredients. Gradually, your diet will become healthier and more delicious.
- Start slow and make changes to your eating habits over time. Trying to make your diet healthy overnight isn’t realistic or smart. Changing everything at once usually leads to cheating or giving up on your new eating plan. Make small steps, like adding a salad (full of different color vegetables) to your diet once a day or switching from butter to olive oil when cooking. As your small changes become habit, you can continue to add more healthy choices to your diet.
- Every change you make to improve your diet matters. You don’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to completely eliminate foods you enjoy to have a healthy diet. The long term goal is to feel good, have more energy, and reduce the risk of cancer and disease. Don’t let your missteps derail you—every healthy food choice you make counts.
Think of water and exercise as food groups in your diet.
Water. Water helps flush our systems of waste products and toxins, yet many people go through life dehydrated—causing tiredness, low energy, and headaches. It’s common to mistake thirst for hunger, so staying well hydrated will also help you make healthier food choices.Exercise. Find something active that you like to do and add it to your day, just like you would add healthy greens, blueberries, or salmon. The benefits of lifelong exercise are abundant and regular exercise may even motivate you to make healthy food choices a habit.
Healthy eating tip 2: Moderation is key
